Songs of Conquest PC

Songs of Conquest is a turn-based fantasy strategy game that draws on the iconic Heroes of Might and Magic II. It is a debut project of the Swedish studio Lavapotion, assisted by Coffee Stain.

Mechanics

The player takes on the role of a ruler whose task is to take control of a fantasy land. In order to do this, we must build our kingdom, take care of the economy, recruit armies and use a wide range of spells.

Our responsibilities are not limited to strategic tasks. The game is enriched by RPG elements, which require managing heroes exploring the world, completing quests and acquiring treasures. Both the management of the country and combat are taking place in a turn-based system.

During battles, the soldiers are commanded by our heroes: powerful mages called 'Wielders', their magic known as 'Essence'. By combining the skills of mages with the essence of soldiers, we gain access to a variety of spells - and different units have their characteristic essence, so it is worth taking care of their safety, as our magical arsenal depends on them. Battles are tactically complex and require the appropriate use of formations and the unique qualities and abilities of all units.

Game modes

Songs of Conquest offers both single-player and multiplayer modes.

Technical aspects

One of the most interesting elements of Songs of Conquest are the visuals, using retro pixel-art style, but created in such a way that it is possible to slightly change perspective while manipulating the camera, and the image is beautified by dynamic light effects. The result is a less static overall impression than in typical 2D games.
