Gamers did not like the idea of paying more for the game (specifically for the Palace Edition) in order to get early access. They expressed this on Twitter, among others. What was their surprise when the person responsible for contacting fans got into a not-so-cultural exchange with the community (fragments of which can be found in the attached screenshot).
Original message (November 23, 2022)
Electronic Arts has once again revealed a secret about the latest installment of Need for Speed. We are, of course, talking about Unbound. The company revealed, when it will be possible to play the new game. There was also information on supported resolutions on different platforms, supported steering wheels and accessibility options.
Something for the impatient
Need for Speed Unbound will launch on December 1 and 2, 2022. The exact time of the launch depends on the region where you live.
Preload for pre-orderers on PC and Xbox Series S/X will start on November 24, while on PlayStation 5 it will start on November 27 (Palace Edition) or November 30 (Standard Edition). Early access to the Palace Edition on all platforms, on the other hand, will start on November 29. The Standard Edition will be activated at the official launch.
Another way to play the new NFS is to take advantage of EA Play/Play Pro. On November 29 at 11 om PT a 10-hour free access to the new NFS will begin on EA Play, and if we have subscribed to the EA Play Pro service, we will receive Unbound as part of the subscription.
For the sake of completeness, let's add that the aforementioned Palace Edition offers various bonuses, including 4 modified cars, $150,000 to start online play, and a Palace clothing pack.
Unbound will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. 4K resolution will be available on Sony's console and the flagship Xbox variant. Series S users will have to settle for 1280p. The game will run at 60 frames per second on all platforms.
Which steering wheel for Unbound?
The new racing game from EA will, of course, support steering wheels. The manufacturer provided a list of supported models:
- Thrustmaster T300RS (PS5, PC)
- Thrustmaster TX (Xbox, PC)
- Thrustmaster T150 (PS5, PC)
- Thrustmaster TMX (Xbox, PC)
- Logitech G29 (PS5, PC)

- Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel (PS5, PC, Xbox)
In addition, there was interesting news regarding online gameplay. NFS Unbound will provide support for crossplay. So, regardless of the platform we own, users will be able to play together online. In addition to this, the game will enable us to change several important accessibility options, such as a special mode for colorblind, launching a voiceover in the menu, the ability to adjust camera shake or control the intensity of lighting.
