Today The Pokemon Company finally announced an update regarding Pokemon HOME and the two most recent releases, Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Both games will become connected to the cloud storage software Pokemon HOME when the 2.0 update launches “soon.” You can find the official announcement here.
Currently, there is no firm release date outside of the coming weeks, but this is certainly some exciting news that fans of the franchise have been waiting to hear updates on. Pokemon Sword & Shield remains the primary game for official competitions but many of the Pokemon still missing from Sword & Shield can be found in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Pokemon Legends: Arceus also introduced a handful of brand new Pokemon to the series that will now finally get their chance to shine in a more traditional Pokemon game.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus in particular has some unique mechanics that don’t exactly fit perfectly with other games. But The Pokemon Company explained that certain moves and even Pokeballs will change during the transition, much like how moves that were cut from Sword & Shield do not make the transition from past games like Sun & Moon.
As a way of celebrating, The Pokemon Company is also giving away several gift Pokemon when players connect to Pokemon HOME with the latest games. If a player deposits a Pokemon from Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl into Pokemon HOME, they will receive gift versions of the Sinnoh starters (Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup) with their hidden abilities. Likewise, players who deposit a Pokemon from Legends: Arceus will receive Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott with maximum effort levels.
The Pokemon HOME update should release sometime in the next few weeks, but for now, there is no exact release date. Either way, it is good to know that the update is indeed coming. What Pokemon are you the most excited to transfer across games? Leave a comment below letting us know your thoughts!
