The sequel to the iconic Beyond Good & Evil was publicly shown for the first time at E3 2017. After that, Ubisoft regularly revealed new information about it, just until 2020. Since then, the company has not provided any information that would prove the ongoing work on the game. Only rumors about Beyond Good & Evil 2 appeared across the web, the latest of which were related to, among other things, the start of testing. But now we have received official confirmation that the game has not been abandoned, in the form of a "coming-out" from one of the developers.
Twitter profile description of Sarah Arellano has recently been updated. The woman herself brought this to people's attention by posting a video showing the short process of updating her account. This is because Arellano announced that she is the head writer of the upcoming Beyond Good & Evil 2. She summed up her video with the words "It's my turn to do the thing."
All right, but who is Sarah Arellano? She's a screenwriter, who previously worked on, among other titles, World of Warcraft (as a narrative designer) and the upcoming Saints Row reboot (lead screenwriter). Her profile update tweet is one of the first official mentions of Beyond Good & Evil 2. So far, the only confirmation that the game has not been abandoned has come from financial reports of Ubisoft.
The creation of the first Beyond Good & Evil was the responsibility of Michel Ancel, who some time ago officially announced his departure from the game industry. At the time, he assured that the sequel to his game was in good hands, work on it was underway, and players would soon see the results. Well, almost two years have passed, and until recently Beyond Good & Evil 2 was off the radar. Perhaps Arellano's tweet heralds the arrival of new official information about the game. However, it's possible that we won't learn more about it until sometime in September, when the next Ubisoft Forward is scheduled to take place.
